Winter Bouquet
In spite of the snow, flowers arrive.
A yellow rose offers little fragrance,
yet within an hour an herbal scent enhances
the room, the promise of spring a suggestive
aura about the daisies and plumy ferns,
a meadow breeze lightly pervading
the midday air like jasmine tea brewing.
And such a medley of colors and patterns!
Tucked among the leafage are soft splashes
of coral and gold, motifs that refresh
and inspire a watercolor, brush wet.
Each bloom is an artwork in April light.
Festive and frilly, the bouquet will cheer
and add sweetness to the atmosphere.
